Domain Propagation

Domain Propagation

When you update your domain records—such as pointing an existing domain to your Weaveform site—the rest of the internet needs time to learn about these changes. This global update process is called domain propagation.

How long does it take?

Propagation typically takes 24 to 48 hours to complete worldwide.

What to expect during this time

Because different internet providers (ISPs) update their records at different speeds, you may experience some inconsistencies during the first 48 hours:

  1. Temporary Inaccessibility: You might not be able to view your live site immediately.
  2. Email Delays: Emails sent to addresses connected to your domain may not be delivered correctly.
  3. Updating Issues: New changes you publish to your site might not appear right away.
  4. Old Content: You may still see your old website instead of your new one.
  5. Mixed Results: Your site might load perfectly on your phone but appear "down" on your office computer.
  6. Security Warnings: Your SSL certificate (the "HTTPS" padlock) will only be issued once propagation is 100% complete. Until then, your site may appear as "insecure."

When is it finished?

As soon as the propagation process is complete, your website will be fully accessible, secure, and visible to everyone globally. If your site is still not appearing correctly after 48 hours, please contact our support team.
